Western Springs Lakeside Te Wai Orea park – Have your say!

Changes to Western Springs are coming. Waitemata Local Board wants your feedback on the draft Western Springs Lakeside Te Wai Orea park development plan.

With the help of mana whenua and the Western Springs stakeholder Group, the Waitemata Local Board has developed a park development plan for Western Springs Lakeside Te Wai Orea Park.

The purpose of the draft park development plan is to provide a vision and action plan to guide improvements to Western Springs Lakeside Te Wai Orea park over the short, medium, and long-term.

Improvements to the park are proposed, and they would like your feedback on them, including what they need to provide when they improve the playground.

The focus of the plan is to improve the existing state of the park, without making any major changes.

In particular, they’d like to hear what park users think about:

  • environmental ideas for the park like bird feeding and the tuna (eel) sanctuary
  • improving the water quality
  • improving the area for events
  • the existing park facilities and signage
  • age ranges and equipment for the playground
  • what projects they’d like to see addressed first.

The Local Board is encouraging park users to provide their feedback.

The online survey is open until Monday 27 August 2018 at:

In addition, an open day will be help on Saturday 18 August next to the playground in Western Springs Park. In the event of rain the back-up location for the drop-in day is Western Springs Garden Community Hall 2, located at Western Springs Garden Community Hall, 956 Great North Road, Western Springs.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.
